BIOGRAPHY

Described as a singer with an "attractive, ample voice" & "superb dramatic instinct", Brazilian-American mezzo-soprano/alto, Melissa Zgouridi, is quickly making a name for herself both in Europe & in her native USA.

The Brazilian-American mezzo-soprano/alto was most recently awarded 5th Prize as well as the Extraordinary Prize “Mercedes Viñas” at the 57th International Tenor Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona. She was a District Winner in the 2020 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the second place winner of the 2019-2020 American Prize in the "Women in Art Song & Oratorio" category, has been the recipient of the Young Talent Award at the Immling Festival's International Singing Competition, First Place in the Friends of Eastman Opera Vocal Competition, and the winner of a 2015-2016 Fulbright Grant.

BAYREUTH SCHOLARSHIP 2021

Melissa was selected as a recipient of the 2021 Bayreuth Scholarship awarded by the International Association of Wagner Societies & will be attending the Bayreuth Festival in August 2021.

SAARLÄNDISHES STAATSTHEATER 

In January 2021, Melissa join the ensemble of the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken, Germany. 

THE AMERICAN PRIZE 2020

Melissa was recently named the 2nd place winner of The American Prize in the Women: Lied & Oratorio category. ​The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts is the nation's most comprehensive series of contests in the classical arts. The American Prize is designed to evaluate, recognize and reward the best performers, ensembles, and composers in the United States
